What makes HitBuddy's free picks different?
Most "free MLB picks" sites are bait-and-switch — show one leg, paywall the rest. HitBuddy shows every pick, every day, with full leg details and win-rate history. The algorithm is documented in our FAQ — no black box.
Picks are scored using streak momentum, recent form, season baseline, consistency, and BvP history. We lean on real play-by-play BvP data from MLB Stats API, not aggregated or estimated matchup grades.
FAQ — Free MLB Picks
Are these MLB picks really free?
Yes — every pick on HitBuddy is free. No paywall, no signup required, no premium tier. We publish today's hit picks, parlays, and NRFI picks publicly before every slate.
How often are the picks updated?
Picks are regenerated daily after lineups and probable pitchers are confirmed. We re-run our pick algorithm throughout the day as lineups post on Rotowire and MLB Stats API.
How does HitBuddy pick daily MLB hitters?
Each hitter is scored using a blend of current hit streak (30%), recent 15-game average (20%), season batting average (15%), consistency (10%), and batter-vs-pitcher history (25%). The algorithm favors proven contact hitters in favorable matchups.
What is a BvP matchup?
BvP stands for batter vs pitcher — the historical results of a specific hitter's at-bats against a specific pitcher. Good BvP history (high batting average, multiple hits) is a leading indicator for today's performance.
Do you offer NRFI picks?
Yes — we publish free NRFI (No Runs First Inning) picks daily based on first-inning scoring rates for both starting pitchers and the opposing lineups they face.
